At the PCA National Specialty in San Antonio, Texas on April 10th, for the second year in a row, Mellie took High Phalene in Trial at the agility trial. She squeaked by for it by qualifying in her Excellent B Standard run, earning another leg to her MX title. She did not earn MACH points as she ran a fairly slow course. Unfortunately she went off course in her Excellent B Jumpers with Weaves course, so no qualifying run there. Mellie was able to relax after the trial, as she was not entered in the conformation classes.
At the PCA National Specialty in San Antonio, Texas on April 10th, Abby ran her very first agility trial. She ran her Novice Standard run according to her own ideas. She disliked all the contact obstacles, so those were “skipped” by her. She also missed her weaves, deciding 6 was just too many. But she had a grand time taking the jumps and doing the tunnels and chutes. Needless to say, we did not qualify in that run. In her Novice Jumpers with Weaves class, she was remarkable. She had a blast taking all the jumps and she had only one slight refusal which I take total responsibility for. She not only qualified with a score of 95 out of 100, but she was a full 15 seconds under course time and took second place to boot. She ended up with a very nice set of rosette ribbons. I was quite proud of her performance. We’ll have to go back to the drawing board on the contact obstacles, but at least we know she likes to run the courses!
On April 1st, Abby took WB and BOW for 2 points under judge Kathleen Kolbert at the Indianhead Kennel Club Dog show in Eau Claire, WI. Ace made his dog show debut at the same show. He placed first in the 6-9 month puppy dog class. He was also awarded Best Puppy in Breed for a special competition. Unfortunately we had to leave before the Toy breed Group puppy judging started. They both had fun in the ring and we look forward to seeing them in upcoming shows.
